SHARED CORE MODEL

Cross Platform Does Not Mean Identical Everywhere

The useful goal is shared ownership where the product is common and platform adaptation where user expectations or capabilities differ.

Business rules, data models, API access and many interface components may be common across iOS and Android. We map that shared product core before choosing a framework. The decision should reduce duplicated effort without forcing every interaction into one lowest common denominator or making platform behaviour difficult to access.

Identify What Can Be Shared visual showing shared mobile product core containing business rules, data and reusable interface components

Navigation, permissions, gestures, system controls and release requirements can differ between Apple and Android environments. We plan where the experience should adapt and where a shared pattern remains appropriate. Users should feel that the app belongs on their device even when much of the code and product logic is reused.

Third party SDKs and device features can determine whether a cross platform approach remains efficient. We review library maturity, platform support, upgrade risk and the amount of custom native code required. A framework is not a shortcut when a critical product capability depends on an unstable bridge or unsupported implementation.

Evaluate Native Dependencies visual showing dependency review comparing cross platform libraries, native modules and device capability coverage

Shared code does not remove the need to test both platforms. We verify devices, operating system versions, permissions, deep links, notifications, store requirements and upgrades separately. Release ownership also accounts for framework, plugin and native dependency changes so future updates do not become unexpectedly difficult.

Our Cross Platform App Development Process

Compare shared journeys, platform differences, device integrations, performance expectations and maintenance ownership before selecting a framework.

Cross Platform App Development Capabilities

The stack is selected after product fit is assessed, not because code sharing is automatically cheaper.

Shared Product Logic

Reuse suitable business rules, data access and interface components across mobile platforms.

Platform Adaptation

Preserve device appropriate navigation, controls, permissions and interaction where required.

Native Module Integration

Connect device services and specialist SDKs through supported plugins or focused native code.

Backend and Local Data

Coordinate APIs, storage, caching, synchronisation and account state across both apps.

Two Platform Testing

Test iOS and Android devices, versions and release conditions as separate user products.

Dependency Maintenance

Plan upgrades across the framework, packages, native SDKs and store requirements.

Questions Before You Plan the Build

Cross platform app development uses one primary framework and shared code to create applications for more than one platform, commonly iOS and Android. Product logic, data access and many interface components may be reused, while platform specific code can handle device services or different behaviour. Flashyminds assesses how much can be shared without weakening user experience, performance or future maintenance.
